Preston is Senior Vice President of Technical Services at Private Energy Partners, where he leads technical diligence, engineering oversight, and construction execution across utility-scale renewable energy investments. With more than 25 years of experience in utility scale renewables, he integrates technical rigor with disciplined risk management to advance utility scale renewable projects from development through commercial operation.

  • Preston oversees technical evaluation and execution strategy across the firm’s renewable energy portfolio, ensuring projects are designed, structured, and delivered to meet performance, schedule, and cost objectives.
  • He leads technical due diligence for acquisitions, supports commercial negotiations, evaluates engineering and procurement strategies, and implements risk mitigation measures throughout development and construction to protect capital and optimize long-term asset performance.
  • Preston has contributed to the development, pre-construction, or construction of more than 25 wind projects and 8 solar projects totaling over 5 GW of installed capacity, with individual projects ranging from 1.8 MW to 650 MW.
  • He previously held senior leadership roles at Repsol Renewables NA/ConnectGen, Pattern Energy, Renewable Energy Systems America and AES/SeaWest WindPower, guiding multidisciplinary teams from early-stage development and permitting through financial close, construction, and commissioning.
  • His experience spans engineering management, EPC oversight, cost and schedule control, contractor performance management, and cross-functional coordination with development, environmental, procurement, and finance teams.
  • B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, Colorado School of Mines; Project Management Certificate, Colorado State University.
