Northern Quartz
Region
Australia
Private Energy Partners and Solquartz are planning the Northern Quartz Campus, which is proposed to be located within the Lansdown Eco-Industrial Precinct.
Northern Quartz Campus is a series of projects, including the Supernode North Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) and a Metallurgical Silicon Production Facility.
Two nearby solar farms to power the Northern Quartz Campus are also proposed.
Metallurgical Silicon Production Facility
The production facility is proposed to be delivered in three stages to produce up to 150,000 tonnes of metallurgical grade silicon annually, for more than 30 years.
Supernode North BESS
The Supernode North BESS is up to 760MW, and would support the local energy networks by storing up to 6,080 megawatt hours (MWh) of excess energy from the grid and releasing it back into the network when it is needed, including during periods of low generation, high demand (such as at night) and during unplanned outages.
